Condominium living, the answer to modern residential woes?

philippine condominium for saleA Filipino’s first dream is to have a house of his own before anything else but with the skyrocketing prices of land and construction materials, few are able to get it, specially in the metropolis where everything is expensive.

A house and lot double as investment and family comfort zone but in the big cities where cash makes life go round, it can also be a burden to the older people, particularly the retirees who must pay escalating tax on real estate properties.

When the children have grown up and are on their own, parents tend to be alone in a house, which could be costly to maintain especially in a bustling city.

And yuppies who crave for independent life without the attendant responsibilities of taking care of a large family in a fast-paced environment is skyrocketing in number.

These are some of the reasons that living in a condominium is popular nowadays, according to Phinma Properties president and chief executive officer Willie J. Uy, who lectures on providing affordable and quality houses in different areas of the country.

Uy said a community should be master-planned with greenery in accordance with environment protection and enough oxygen to reduce the stress and hassles of city life.

He added that condominium residents should live in a relaxed atmosphere where they can work and and play in multi-purpose function halls, clubhouse, gym and playground as well as a nice and safe parking space.

Uy said while the choice of architecture is almost endless, the southern style with its appealing colors that evoke charm and genteelity of a southern plantation is most sought-after by those who prefer quiet, yet historic places.

A model condo community, said Uy, is Flora Vista on an 1.8-hectare lot where a total of nine walk-up buildings or condominum is about to rise, courtesy of Phinma Properties.

Though located in one of the most beautiful prime areas in Quezon City, the cost per unit is reasonable with prices starting at P850,000,” Uy said.

He noted that Phinma had the mid-market segment in mind when the company planned the nine buildings with five-storey structures. Units have a standard size of 30 sq. meters–expandable to 60 and 90 sq. meters to suit every client’s wish and purpose.

Aside from the location’s ambience, Flora Vista, for the first time in the Philippines, will be run by solar power and crystal, thus, saving a great deal of electricity and money for the residents.

“The units can be bought through Pag-IBIG funding or GSIS [Government Service Insurance System] for government employees or SSS [Social Security System] for private employees. This is our way of bringing affordable and yet comfortable homes to the masses,” Uy told media as he discussed Vice President Noli De Castro’s efforts to provide shelter projects for more and more people last Tuesday.
