Driveway gates build out of western red cedar – real winners!

The idea of a 16ft wide gate made out of wood can be daunting.  Until now most gates that swing open would start sagging almost right after installation.  Normally wooden gates are not a good choice when it comes to double wide driveway gates.

 Fence companies   offer mechanised gates that slide open instead of swinging open. If you are able to afford the cost , it than can be a good choice.  You have to deal with electricity and other issues that are more involved.

I’m talking about a really cheap solution to wide gates ;  yet at the same time offer stunning looking gate designs.

 I did a self installation on one of these gates to replace a double wide gate to my yard . By far the hardest part of the whole process was getting the posts set correctly. The assembly and installation was easy enough for anyone who can use a hammer and nails without hurting himself.I had my 10 year old as a helper for mounting the gate  and it took us only 3 hours total excluding setting the posts.

The material for a 14 ft gate made of 2 7tf picket fence gates cost me less than $470  which included the 12inch hinges and ring latch .  That is a massive saving  off the quotes I got through Long Fence.

One big bonus  of using a standard gate frame  is the fact that you can customize the pickets . Therefore you are able to match your gate pickets to an existing fence without breaking the bank.  

There is no shortage of carpenters and handy man builiding your gate onsite . The problem is each person does it a little different. Most of them are using steel wire to reinforce the frame, which is not necessary by using the pre-built frame from Assuragate.
